The First Evangelists
Jesus sends His 12 Apostles two and two through the towns and villages to tell the people “The kingdom of heaven is at hand.” Matthew Ch 10, Mark 6:7-11, Luke 9:1-6.
Jesus had gone to many cities and villages in Israel teaching in the synagogues and preaching the Gospel…and healing sick and diseased. He saw that they were as sheep with no shepherd and says to His Disciples “The harvest is truly plenteous, but the laborers are few. Pray ye the Lord of the harvest that he will send forth labourers into the harvest: Matt. 9:35-37.
Jesus then calls His 12 Apostles, empowers them and instructs them to go to the lost sheep of the house of Israel to “preach saying The Kingdom of heaven is at hand, heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils, freely ye have received, freely give. Matt.10:1-8.
“Whosoever shall not receive you nor hear you, nor hear your words, then deprt depart from thence…It shall be more tolerable for Sodom and Gomorrah in the day of judgement, than for that city… I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves: be ye therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves…ye shall be hated for my name’s sake…Matt 10:14-22,28-33, 40.
“And they went out and preached that men should repent, and they cast out devils, and annointed with oil many that were sick, and healed them.” Mark 6:12-13.
The Disciples then returned and told Jesus all that they had done. Luke 9:10, 16-17.
Jesus would later send out seventy disciples two and two to deliver the same message. Luke 10:1-11,16.
They went out and returned with joy. Luke 10:17.
