During His earthly ministry, Jesus prays to the Father interceding for his followers. John Ch. 17. This was the longest recorded prayer of Jesus in the Bible. It was followed by Jesus’s agony in Gethsemane and betrayal by Judas Iscariot.

  1. God gave Jesus power to give eternal life to as many as God has given Him. vs.1-5.

  2. I have manifested Thy name to those Thou gavest me..Thine they were & Thou gavest them me. vs. 6-8.

  3. I pray for them..all mine are thine. Keep those Thou gavest me...that they may be one as we are one. vs. 9-11.

  4. I have kept them in Thy name...and none of them is lost but the son of perdition. vs. 12.

  5. They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world...sanctify them through Thy truth. vs. 14-17.

  6. As Thou hast sent me into the world...I also send them into the world. vs.18.

  7. I pray for them and for all who shall believe on me through their word that they all may be one in us. vs.20-23.

  8. I will that they be with me where I am...for Thou loves me before the foundation of the world. vs. 24-25.

  9. I have declared unto them thy name...that Thy love for me may be in them, and I in them. vs. 26.

Jesus interceding during his trial and crucifiction.

  1. And Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do.” And they cast lots to divide his garments. Luke 23:33-34. Psalm 22:16,18.

  2. Jesus interceded for his mother Mary: When Jesus saw his Mother there, and the Disciple whom he loved standing nearby, he said to her: Woman behold your Son, then to the disciple John, behold thy Mother. And from that hour that disciple took her unto his own home. John 19:26-27.

  3. In His death Jesus reconciled man to God: For Christ has entered, not into holy places made with hands, which are copies of the true things, but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God on our behalf. Romans 5:10.

Jesus our Interceder in eternity.

  1. For Christ has entered, not into holy places made with hands, which are copies of the true things, but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God on our behalf. Hebrews 9:24.

  2. It is Christ Jesus that died, yea rather, that was raised from the dead, who is at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us. Romans 8:34

  3. Jesus our mediator. For there is one God, and there is one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus. I Timothy 2:6.

  4. My little children, I am writing these things to you so that you may not sin. But if anyone does sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous. He is the propitiation for our sins…and for the sins of the whole world. 1 John 2:1-2.
