Jesus The First and The Last

Jesus says to the Apostle John in the Book of The Revelation as he was in the Spirit on the Lord’s Day: “I am Alpha and Omega, The First and the Last: and what thou seest, write in a book and send it to the seven chrches…Revelation 1:11.

Jesus says: “Fear not, I am the First and the Last, and the Living one. I died, and behold I am alive forevermore, and I have the keys of Death and Hades.” Revelation 1:17-18.

The Prophet Isaiah wrote: “This is what the LORD says-Israel’s King and Redeemer, the LORD Almighty: I am the first and I am the last; apart from me there is no God.” Isaiah 44:6.

Jesus as the First.

For Jesus to be the first means that He existed before all things. Jesus Christ is the creator God, as we read in John 1:3: “All things were made through him, and without him was not any thing made that was made.”

God’s Word says regarding Jesus: “He was in the world, and the world was made through him, yet the world did not know him.” John 1:10.

Those who received Him became children of God: “To all who received Him, to those that believed on His name, He gave the right to become children of God…born of God.” John 1:12-13.

Jesus referred to as the only begotten of the Father. “And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begottten of the Father, full of grace and truth.” John 1:14:

John the Baptist testifies after he baptised Jesus that He is the Son of God: I saw the Spirit come down from heaven as a dove and remain on Him. I would not have known Him, except that the one who sent me to baptize with water told me, “The man whom you see the Spirit come down and remain is He who will baptize with the Holy Spirit.” I have seen and I testify that this is the Son of God. John 1:32-34.

Jesus as the Last.

What does it mean for Jesus to say that He is the last? Jesus Christ is the One before whom all people will have to stand in the end of time, and give an account of their lives. Jesus was crucified then rose from the dead and is alive forever. Revelation 1:17–18, Jesus says: “Fear not, I am the first and the last, and the living one. I died, and behold I am alive forevermore, and I have the keys of Death and Hades.” This means, among other things, that Jesus Christ is the One before whom all people will have to stand in the end of time, and give an account of their lives.

In the end of time, all must appear before the judgment seat of Christ. 2 Corinthians 5:10 “For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may receive his due for the things done in the body, whether good or bad.”

Jesus came to redeem sinful man. Jesus is the final judge of humanity at the endtimes. “People are destined to die once, and after that to face judgment” Hebrews 9:27. We all have a divine appointment with our Savior and Judge at the end of time.
