The Divine Call
The Apostle Peter’s message to people of faith. II Peter 1:1-11.
Apostle Peter wrote this shortly before his death. Historians say that Peter’s brother James had just been martyred by Herod Agrippa 1, the same man who put Peter in prison. Peter was crucified upside down in Rome 68 AD.
II Peter 1:12-15. Peter feels obligated to share this message “knowing that shortly I must put off this my tabernacle, even as our Lord Jesus Christ has shown me.”
Knowing God and Jesus our Lord calls believers to glory and virtue. II Peter 1:2-3.
God gives “great and precious promises to be partakers of the Divine Nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world....”vs.4.
