Sowing and Reaping
Whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.
Sowing and reaping imply that what you sow in your life will grow. We expect a reward or proof that our efforts are not in vain. Sowing and reaping in the Bible are used to illustrate that our actions have positive or negative consequences.
1 Corinthians 3:7-9. “ He that planteth and he that watereth are one: and every man shall receive his own reward according to his labor for we are labourers together with God…
Jobe 4:8-9. “ Even as I have seen, they that plow iniquity, and sow wickedness, reap the same.”
Hosea 10:12-13. “Sow to yourselves in righteousness, reap in mercy; break up your fallow ground, for it is time to seek the Lord, till he come and rain righteousness upon you.”
Jeremiah 12:10 & 13. “Many pastors have destroyed my vineyard, they have trodden my portion under foot…They have sown wheat, but shall reap thorns…”
John 4:34-36, 37-38. Jesus’s statement to his disciples at the well in Samaria: “…I say unto you, lift up your eyes and look on the fields; for they are white already for harvest. And he that reapeth receivetgh wages, and gathereth fruit unto life eternal: that both he that soweth and he that reapeth may rejoice together.”
2 Corinthians 9:6-8 “…he which soweth sparingly shall reap sparingly; and he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully….”
Galatians 6:7-9. “Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also leap. He that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting.”
May God inspire and lead us to sow generously and reap the harvest of His unconditional love for us!
