Jesus referred to as the Second Adam and the Last Adam.

The First Adam was created by God in His own image. Genesis 1:26-27.

God formed man of the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life and he became a living soul. Genesis 2:7.

God created Eve to be Adam’a companion. Genesis 2:21-22.

Scripture separates humanity into two groups: those of Adam and those of Christ. Romans 5:12-21.

Before God’s grace is revealed in Christ, man is subject to Adam’s nature. I Corinthians 15:45-49. “As it is written, the First man Adam was made a living soul, the last Adam was made a quickening spirit.”

The First Adam succumed to Satan, the Second Adam rebuked and defied Satan after Satan tempted Him. Matthew 4:1-11.

Parallels between the First Adam and the Second Adam.

  1. Adam was the first man created by God. Jesus was the first God-Man.

  2. Adam sinned and doomed humanity. Jesus died once to redeem sinful man. Romans 5:17-19.

  3. Death came through Adam. Resurrection from the dead came through Jesus. 1 Corinthians 15:21-22.

  4. The first Adam was of the dust of the earth, Jesus the second Adam is the Lord from heaven. 1 Corinthians 15:47.

  5. Adam in human form, Christ is the image of God. 11 Corinthians 4:4.

  6. In Him dwelleth all the fullness of God bodily. Colossians 2:9.

The Second Adam’s mission.

  1. Redeeming Adam’s race. Colossians 1:12-22. He delivered us from the power of darkness…vs. 13. He is in the image of the invisible God…vs…15.

  2. Emptied himself-made himself of no reputation, took the form of a servant…was made in the likeness of men…became obedient unto death…Philippians 2:6-11.

O loving wisdom of our God!
