Matthew the source for his Gospel
Jesus’s unexpected call of Matthew the publican. Matthew 9:9-13.
Jesus saw Matthew sitting in the tax collector’s booth and said to him “Follow me.”
Matthew got up and followed Jesus.
As Jesus was dining in Matthew’s house, the Pharisees ask the disciples “why does your teacher eat with tax collectors and sinners?
Jesus replies “It is not the healthy that need a physician, but the sick…I have not come to call the righteous but sinners.”
Matthew becomes the author of the Gospel of Matthew.
