Prophet Habakkuk

BOOK O THE PROPHET HABAKKUK one of the Minor Prophets

Habakkuk means embraser, wrestler. He wrestles with God and asks: God how can you use a wicked nation to punish your people?

Habakkuk is a book of soliloquy between Habakkuk and the Almighty.

Date of writing-late 7th century B.C. shortly before the Babylonian captivity of the southern kingdom of Judah.

Key verses:

  1. The righteous will live by his faith. Ch. 2:4b.

  2. For the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord as the waters cover the sea. Ch.2:14.

  3. But the Lord is in his holy temple, let all the earth be silent before Him. Ch. 2:20.

  4. …Oh Lord revive thy works in the midst of the years…in wrath remember mercy. Ch. 3:2.

  5. Although the fig tree should not blossom, and there is no fruit in the vine, though the yield of the olive should fail and the field prodece no food, should the flock be cut off from the fold…yet I will exalt the Lord, I will rejoice in the God of my salvation. Ch. 3:17-18.

  6. The Lord God is my strength, and He will make my feet like hine’s feet, and will make we walk upon mine high places. Ch.3:19.
